For those of you who were around for Geeks Got Your Back 1.0, there have been some changes:

  • We are phasing out ribbons in favor of buttons. Ribbons are often only used for one event, after which they are discarded into the trash, while buttons can be re-used many times over.

  • We will focus less on explaining that harassment exists at geek events, in favor of showing people how they can prevent it.

  • We will emphasize providing people with simple, effective tools to help prevent harassment at events. We want to focus on the concept that anyone can step in to help. It's a matter of each person finding the right tool that works for them.

  • We will also emphasize that bystander intervention doesn't stop once an event ends. Anti-harassment tools can be used in many other situations.

So there you have the TL;DR version of where we are headed. Let us know what you think!
